SOLUTIONS OVERVIEW

COMPANY:

Nipronline, Northeast Indiana Public Radio station is located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The station is a community-licensed public radio station serving northeast Indiana at 89.1, 93.1 & 88.7 FM. WBNI and WBOI offer classical, jazz, news, national as well as local programming.

CHALLENGE:

Update WBNI’s current web site to professional quality and to include the launch of their new station WBOI, scheduled for Feb. 2, 2002, giving each station a common feel but its own unique identity.

SOLUTION:

Create a portal – NIPRONLINE www.nipr.fm for both WBNI and WBOI. The web site was created using FrontPage 2002, development was done using Html and Active Server Pages (ASP) which allow for easy maintenance and future dynamic content solutions.

BENEFITS:

Nipronline offers one quick and convenient portal to find information about programming (local / national), community events, local weather / related announcements, and additional content. Using pop-up menus the new site offers easy navigation within all three areas of site; NIPRONLINE, WBNI, and WBOI.

The programming section offers hyper-links to those particular program’s web sites, so listeners can learn even more about their favorite programs by clicking on those links. The staff at NIPRONLINE can easily update their new site using FrontPage 2002.

CLIENT COMMENTS:

Here at Northeast Indiana Public Radio we were up against an on air and online challenge. In February of this year we launched a new second station, WBOI-FM Rhythm & News 88.7/91.3, to complement the expanded music on WBNI-FM Classical 89.1. We needed to redesign our web site to not only highlight each station’s programming, but to do so from a central area that could give visitors information on all that we do at NIPR.

ENS worked closely with us, sharing ideas and options that led to the creation of a web site that is very user friendly in appearance and architecture. ENS staff’s use of color and Internet tools has allowed each station to have its own identity. Visitors can now find the information they need about WBNI and WBOI in a more interactive and intuitive way. Meanwhile, ENS has continued to support NIPR staff as we learn to manage and grow with our new online home.
